Project details:

The multifunctional building with car park, fitness centre, shopping arcade, restaurant, offices and flats was the first of its kind of this size in Basel. The conversion project, which involved renewing the entire electrical infrastructure, posed the challenge of minimising the impact on the ground floor area with its shops, service outlets and restaurants, as well as the public multi-storey car park with five basement levels, during the conversion work. The central energy distribution systems were replaced and the access concept from the ground floor to the 5th floor was newly planned and implemented. Flats of a higher standard were to be realised on the two top floors and preparations made for the tenant fit-out. The architects were involved in designing the artificial lighting for the prestigious ground floor passageway area. The safety systems such as fire alarms, emergency lighting, video surveillance, lightning protection etc. were adapted to the regulations and the state of the art.
