JazzCampus, Basel
Financed by the Habitat and Levedo foundations, the new jazz campus of the Basel Music Academy and the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland includes classrooms for ensembles, rooms for individual lessons, performance rooms, practice rooms, recording rooms, control rooms for lessons in recording technology and, last but not least, a jazz club for events. To ensure that pupils and students can learn the finer points of jazz undisturbed at the same time and side by side, the greatest attention was paid to the uncompromising realisation of sound insulation, including ‘room-in-room’ solutions. In order to fulfil the high visual requirements, the fixed installations were largely concealed, which required precise detailed planning in consultation with the architects Buol & Zünd.
